BACKINGS & PADS:

Duo Stop

Duo-Stop pads:

Properties:

They are cut 3” smaller than your rugs so the edge of the rug will fall and hit the floor.
If being put on a hard surface, the rubber would go down and the felt goes up.
If being put on top of a carpet, the felt goes down and the rubber up.

Non-Skid

Non-Skid

Properties:

Non-Skid backings will protect your hard surface floors.
Non-skid backings will give your area rug non slip properties without the help of a pad.
Non-skid will help stabilize a rug made with woven products.
Non-skid backings can be used on long runners to help them maintain their shape.

Felt

Properties:

Felt will protect your floor.
If you are putting a rug on a carpet, felt will help, NOT prevent, non skid properties.
Felt will help stabilize a rug made with woven products.
Felt will give a nice completed look to your custom rug.
You can still put an area rug pad underneath a rug with a felt backing.

Monk’s Cloth

Properties:

Monk’s Cloth will protect your floor.
If you are putting a rug on a carpet, monk’s cloth will protect the fiber of the carpet. It will not provide any non-skid properties.
Monk’s Cloth will stabilize an area rug made with woven products.

NOTES:

All rugs will wear better with pads. The pad will help absorb the impact of the foot traffic. This will help the area rug or carpet wear longer. Laminates have structural value, but they are NOT pads.

Stair Fabrications and Installations

Staircases have become a major part of the architecture in contemporary homes. Staircases can include bellied stairs, pie stairs and landings. Rug Makers can work with broadloom or runner products. Pre-made runners can be put on, not only a straight flight of stairs, but a flight that winds and turns to get from the first to second floor. We can work with both woven and hand tufted products. Hand tufted products will need to be hand-sewn to insure a long term fabrication.

Broadloom carpets may be a better option as steps become more complex. They can be cut to exact sizes, shaped to bellied steps, and sewn on the nose of stairs to complete the staircase with minimal compromise. The edges can either be bound or serged to give a clean tailored look. Cording is another option if you are looking for a unique look.

Repair, Restoration & Cleaning

Area rugs can be damaged. We are able to re-serge or re-fringe oriental rugs. If the oriental rugs have developed dry rot we can cut borders off to omit damaged areas, then re-serge and re-fringe to keep the rug’s original personality.

Inlayed rugs can be a major investment for your home or space. Rug Makers can re-size rugs to make them either larger or smaller, or replace colors to keep your design current.

Carpet is the most forgiving of the floor coverings in our industry. Accidents can happen. The dog’s collar or nails may catch a loop in the berber carpet and the row may run. The damaged area can either be patched with a scrap of carpet or re-tufted if the yarn and backing are stable.

Inlayed Area Rugs

Inlayed area rugs are rugs that are fabricated with broadloom carpets. They can be cut and seamed into unlimited shapes to create a rug that that fits your home’s personality. Seamed edges can be beveled to omit yarn deflection. It will put your rug into a three dimension that will become a major part of your design solution. Our workroom is one of the few that hand-sew. Many products being manufactured need to be sewn by hand to meet manufacturer’s warranties.

Leathers

We can order leathers to compliment your area rugs. Products can be ordered by the lineal foot or with some of the leathers, by the hide. Leather can be applied to your rug with a blind stitch, upholstery or top stitch fabrication depending on the materials.

Canvas and Tapestries

We can order tapestries and canvas to compliment your area rugs. Products can be ordered by the lineal foot. We are able to work with your own products, ordered by the bolt. Canvas can be applied to your rug with a folder, blind stitch, upholstery or top stitch fabrication, depending on the materials.

Fringe

We stock several cotton and polyester fringes. Wool is also available, but has to be ordered. Our fabrication is done with a fringing machine. A fringing machine is a 2 stitch needle machine that applies the fringe to the top of the rug and a tape to the bottom of the rug for additional strength.

Serging

Serging is a yarn that is whipped around the perimeter of an area rug. We stock 125 colors of cotton yarn.

We can also apply serging tape.

Binding is a fabric that is sewn around the perimeter of an area rug. It is available in cotton and polyester. We stock 250 colors of polyester in two widths, 1-1/4” and 3/4”. In our cotton binding, we stock 80 colors in the 1-1/4” width.
